Almaty musical College (College) they. P. Tchaikovsky – the first Kazakh musical school.
The history of the College begins with the decision of Cassica and of the Council of people's Commissars from 13 Jan 1931 year: "In the fall 1931 year to open in Alma-ATA music and drama College, to recruit and place children of workers, poor, laborers and farmers".
23 APR 1932 issued a Decree "On restructuring literary-artistic organizations", and in September 1932 year in Almaty was opened a music and drama College. This was an important milestone in the development of music education in Kazakhstan.

29 APR 1933 year according to the Decree of people's Commissars of the Kazakh SSR "on measures On preparation of the national musical theater of frames" musical-dramatic school was transformed into a musical theater.
2 July 1938 year musical theater College was divided into two independent educational institutions, one of which was a music school.

In 1940 year in honor of the 100th anniversary of P. Tchaikovsky music school was named after the great composer.
During the war years in order to save money it was decided to merge three schools the College of music, children's music school and ballet school, transform them into music and dance combine.
1 Jun 1951 year Order No. 206 Management on Affairs of arts at Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR music and dance combine was again divided into independent educational institutions: Music school. P. Tchaikovsky, Ballet school, Music school №1 im. And. Kashaubaeva.

11 Dec 1995 year Almaty musical College was renamed to Almaty musical College.

Strategic direction in the development of College is the transition of all components of the educational process to a qualitatively new level through the development and generalization of existing experience of the educational system of secondary professional music education, the introduction of new innovative technologies, providing the possibility of conducting a critical self-assessment, allowed to find effective solutions to set tasks in order to obtain quality educational services.
Almaty College of music. P. Considering the policy in the field of education, aimed at the formation of multifunctional specialists, as well as trilingual policy in Kazakhstan, the College is planning to prepare educational and methodological basis for the implementation of training programs in two specialties with the assignment of graduates additional qualifications.
